TURNERS FALLS - Constance ""Connie"" Margaret Louise (Pagano) Schatz, 67, of Turners Falls, died unexpectedly, on Monday, Oct. 15, 2012 in Florida.

She was born on May 23, 1945 in Manhattan, NY, the daughter of the late Rita Marie and Lawrence Anthony Pagano. She grew up in Orchard Hill, West Chester, NY, and attended Our Lady of Victory in Tarrytown. When Connie was age 13, they moved to Huntington, Long Island, where she attended Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Syosset, NY. She then attended Walt Witman High School where she graduated in 1963.
Connie then became an x-ray technician.
She and her husband of 35 years, Richard S. Schatz, Jr., lived in Turners Falls, and recently relocated to Fort Meyers, FL.
Connie worked for Sunlife Financial, formerly known as Phoenix Insurance Co. for 21 years, recently retiring in 2008, where over the years she made many very special friends.
Connie had a summer home in Middletown, RI, where she loved the beach, spending time with her family and all her beloved friends at Seconds Beach. During the last 21 summers, Connie and her husband lived at the beach, where she enjoyed shopping, entertaining and all the many day trips she took with her friends. Connie enjoyed watching the Patriots, baseball and always a good movie.
Connie loved to travel and went on several cruises that spanned from the Caribbean to Europe. Her most recent cruise was a 14-day trip to Europe which she shared with her husband.
Some of her fondest memories were when she vacationed with her entire family by taking them to Disney World.
Besides her beloved husband, Richard ""Dickie"" Schatz, Jr., she leaves two children: her son, Gavin M. Smith and his partner Carrie Briggs of Cape Coral, FL, and her daughter, Lindsay V. Twarog Stanley of Greenfield, MA. She is also survived by her two granddaughters, Allison and Abigail Boswell. Connie leaves her sister, Barbara Signorello and her husband John of Lake Mary, FL. She leaves her niece, Lisa Licata of Niagra Falls, NY, and three great nieces and nephews. She also leaves her dear friend, Michelle Welles, whom she thought of like a daughter.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Courtney D. Smith, in 2010.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, (10-2712) at 11 a.m. at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square. A calling hour will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Greenfield.
