GREENFIELD - Donald C. Mahar, 91, died on Thursday (3-6-14) at home.

Born on Sept. 21, 1922 in Greenfield, he was the son of Clarence H. and Beatrice D. (Ashton) Mahar. A 1942 graduate of Greenfield High School, he was a lifelong Greenfield resident.
Donald was a WW II Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.
He was employed by the Ingersoll Rand Co., Inc until his retirement in 1984.
Donald married the former Josephine H. Aiken on May 27, 1950. Besides his wife of 63 years, he leaves his son, Paul D. Mahar and his wife Darlene of Ware and two grandchildren. He also leaves his brother, Robert A. Mahar and his wife Barbara of Greenfield, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Donald will be on Monday (3-10-14) at 11 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 14 High St., Greenfield, with burial to follow in Green River Cemetery. There will be an hour of visitation, from 10 a.m. until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Robbins Memorial Congregational Church, 59 Munson St., or Hospice of Franklin County, 329 Conway St., Suite 2, both in Greenfield, MA 01301.
