GREENFIELD - Jane Kirkwood, 86, of Greenfield died Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at home. She was the wife of the late William J. Kirkwood.

She was born in Montague on Sept. 1, 1926, the daughter of Alexander and Marjorie (Jardine) Thomas. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Turners Falls High School, Class of 1944.
She moved to Greenfield when she was married to Bill Kirkwood on April 7, 1947. Her husband died on July 18, 1988 after 41 years of marriage.
Mrs. Kirkwood worked in Wilson's Department Store, retiring in 1991, after working there for 26 years.
Among her survivors are her two daughters, Deborah E. Kirkwood and her husband Edward Hatfield of Bedford Hills, NY, and Mary Jane Plizga and her husband Tony Plizga of Randolph; two grandsons, Jeffrey Plizga of Attleboro and Brian Plizga and his wife Michelle of Weymouth; four great-grandchildren, Abigail, Victoria, William and Evanya Plizga; a sister, Joanna and her husband William Suder of Toledo, OH, and several nieces and nephews.
Her brother, Robert "Red" Thomas, preceded her in 1974 and her brother, Jimmy, in 1999.
Funeral services will be Saturday (7-20-13) at 10:15 a.m. at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St., in Greenfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at Blessed Sacrament Church with the Rev. Timothy Campoli, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Friday (7-19-13) from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
