ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. - Laura Standish Deane, 77, of Bernardston, Mass., and Zephyrhills, passed away on Dec. 30, 2013 with her family at her hospital bedside.
She was born Nov. 9, 1936 in Princeton, N.J., to Joseph Jay Fannell and Katherine Borden. She spent her early childhood in Atlanta, Ga., before moving to Massachusetts. She graduated from Stoneleigh Prospect School, now known as Stoneleigh-Burnham School in Greenfield, MA.
In 1987, she was married to her cherished Charles R. Deane. She enjoyed their underground home and her flower gardens. In the last quarter century they engaged in extensive travel around the world including, but not limited to, Canada, Australia, the Caribbean and Panama Canal. In Europe, she loved the River Cruises with her PA traveling companions, which included the Rhine and Mosel rivers. She visited multiple European countries including Rome, where her Father came from.
Besides her husband of 27 years, she leaves four children, Mark (Dawn) Wrightson of Inverness, FL, Julie (Roy Harris) Zabko of Wesley Chapel, FL, Kyle (Natalie) Wrightson of Switzerland and Elizabeth (Dan) Randall of Northfield, MA; eight grandchildren, Douglas, Kim, Amanda, Derek, Cody, Michaela, Myles and Jocelyn, and two great-grandchildren. Laura also leaves three stepchildren, Kenneth, Michael and Douglas Deane, along with four step-grandchildren and many other relatives. She is survived by her dearly loved Jasper. Laura was a member of the Spanish Trails West Social Board located in her beloved winter home with her many park friends.
Funeral services will be held at Whitfield Funeral Home, 5008 Gall Blvd., Zephyrhills, FL 33542 at 2 p.m., today, Jan. 2, 2014.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Center Cemetery in Bernardston. A memorial luncheon will follow at the United Church of Bernardston.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Bernardston Fire Dept., in care of Peter Shedd, or any local animal shelter.
