GARDINER, ME - Lorraine (Pydych) Marcellino, 74, of Gardiner, died May 12, 2013 very unexpectedly.
She was born in Greenfield, Mass., on Jan. 25, 1939, the daughter of John F. Pydych and Rosamonde Ida (Ledoux) Pydych. She was predeceased by her brother, Raymond "Ray" Pydych of Greenfield.
Lorraine attended Greenfield High School and Northampton Commercial College, graduating with a 2-year degree in 1958.
She was introduced to her husband, Richard, by her sister-in-law, Theresa Pydych, Ray's wife. Richard and Lorraine were married on Sept. 4, 1961 and they shared 51 years together. Richard and Lorraine lived in West Orange, NJ, from 1961 to 1978.
Lorraine worked as a cashier at the local Shop Rite grocery store. In 1978, they moved to Gardiner. Slower country life compared to the faster big city life took some getting used to. She was employed by the 7-11 store in Gardiner. After leaving 7-11 in 1988, she volunteered her time at the VA Hospital in Togus, Maine, making pizzas in the canteen service's cafeteria.
Lorraine loved to travel with her husband, venturing to places like Europe, Hong Kong, Hawaii, and the U.S. She especially looked forward to every mid-October when she and Richard headed south to Satellite Beach, FL. She loved being close to the beach and the ocean.
The family would like to extend a warm and appreciative thank you to the staff at the Kennebec Kidney Center for the professional care and treatment they offered Lorraine.
She is survived by her husband, Richard of Gardiner; sister-in-law, Theresa Pydych of Greenfield, Mass; daughter, Cheryl A. Marcellino of Manchester, NH; son, Peter L. Marcellino and his significant other, Cindy Stafford of Sidney, ME; former daughter-in-law, Debbie (Marcellino) Blythe and her husband Thomas Blythe of Palermo, ME; four grandchildren: Jordan (Marcellino) Lachcik and her husband Christopher Lachcik of El Paso, TX; Jenna M. Marcellino and her fiancé Seth Cloutier of Bangor, ME; Justin M. Marcellino and Jayme M. Marcellino of Palermo, ME; and one great-granddaughter (born on Lorraine's birth date, Jan. 25, 2013), Shayne Elizabeth Lachcik of El Paso, TX. She will be missed by many other family and friends who knew and loved her.
