Sunderland, MA – Mary M. Petcen, 96, of 96 Russell Street, Sunderland died early Thursday morning at the Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton.

She was born in Ontario, Canada, April 28, 1917, the daughter of David and Catherine (Cauley) Lawson.
Mary was educated in Great Barrington Schools and graduated from Searles High School and later, Wesson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was later married to Martin Petcen. He predeceased her.
Mary had many great adventures, traveling to Hawaii, Mt. Rushmore, Cancun and Yellowstone National Park. She loved game shows, flowers and her great grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Una Miller and her husband Frederick Wayne Miller of Sunderland and Cathy Michon of Holyoke, two grandchildren, James Miller of Sunderland and Bridget Hale and her husband Brent also of Sunderland and two great-grandchildren, Cordelia and Greta.
Mary was the mother of John Petcen who predeceased her.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 21st at 11 a.m. at the Wrisley Funeral Home, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Holy Family Church, celebrated by Rev. Fr. Phillipe Roux, pastor. A calling hour will be at the funeral home from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Main Street Cemetery in Hatfield.
