She was born in Adams, Massachusetts on January 26, 1917, daughter of Thomas Joseph and Evelina Burns Harvey. Graduated from Adams High School and Russell Sage College of Troy N. Y. She was married to the late Russell A. Phelps who died in 1986.
She died on September 30, 2012 at Charlene Manor in Greenfield, Massachusetts.
Mrs. Phelps taught French and English in Adams H.S., Belchertown School, Templeton H. S., and Turners Falls H. S. retiring in 1975.
She enjoyed playing cards, music, and reading. She was a member of:
Retired Educators Assoc. of Mass. American Assoc. of Retired Persons.
Survivors include: son, Robert A. Phelps; 2 grandsons, Sacha Phelps and Abe Phelps; 2 Great-grandsons, Allisandro Russell Phelps and Luca Dean Phelps; 1 nephew, 2 nieces.
She was a Jehovah's Witness.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held on October 15, 2012 at 11 a.m. in Kingdom Hall, 805 Bernardston Rd., Greenfield, Mass. 01301.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested for the Kingdom Hall in Greenfield Mass. OR to Warm the Children fund to The Recorder in Greenfield, Mass.
