ATHOL - Raymond Gates Tuttle, 52, died Sunday, July 14, 2013, at his home.
Raymond was born in Greenfield, June 3, 1961, the son of Gates and JoAnn (Rabideau) Tuttle. He grew up in Greenfield and attended Greenfield schools. He resided in Turners Falls in the ""Patch"" later moving to Brattleboro, VT, where he lived for many years and for the past year had resided in Athol.
Raymond served in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard.
He worked as a meat cutter working in several supermarkets, worked in several manufacturing plants and was also a chef.
Raymond's hobbies included fishing, cooking, traveling, wildlife, collecting antiques, volunteering, learning new foreign languages, playing his guitar and taking flying lessons. He adored his two dogs, Wolfie and Baby.
Raymond leaves his two daughters, Brittany Tuttle of Brattleboro and Alisha Tuttle of Greenfield; his granddaughter, Kaelyn, who he enjoyed so much; his mother, JoAnn Tuttle of Greenfield, and late father, Gates Tuttle; previous wife, Norma Mackey; his brothers, Paul Tuttle and his wife Andrea, Michael Tuttle, Christopher Tuttle, Gates Tuttle, lll and his companion Serena, all of Greenfield, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Higgins-O'Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., with Pastor Bruce Burks of the Advent Christian Church of Vernon, VT, officiating. A private burial will be held at the Massachusetts Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Agawam at a later date.
