ERVING - Roy W. Kuczwara, 84, of Ridge Road, died early Tuesday morning, April 1, 2014, at Hospice of the Fisher Home in Amherst.

Born on April 11, 1929 in River Rouge, Mich., he was a son of Edward A. and Viola A. (Robinette) Kuczwara and grew up in River Rouge and graduated from GMI in Flint, Mich., which is now known as Kitterage University.
On Dec. 16, 1951, Roy married Julia M. (Strom) and they had enjoyed over 62 years together.
Roy enlisted into the United States Army on March 30, 1951 and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on March 30, 1953.
A mechanical engineer for General Motors, Roy worked in the Diesel-Allison Division for close to 30 years, retiring in 1985.
An outdoor enthusiast, Roy especially enjoyed playing golf and skiing. He was also a fan of all Michigan sports and would cheer for the Boston Red Sox after moving to Massachusetts, but only if they weren't playing the Detroit Tigers.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Julia Kuczwara of Erving; sons, Paul A. Kuczwara of Newton, NH, and Raymond E. Kuczwara of Marquette, MI; a daughter, Millie Postema of Erving; grandchildren, Garrett Postema, Julia Postema O'Donnell, Andrea Kuczwara, Russell Kuczwara, Daniel Postema, and Sarah Kuczwara.
Besides his parents, Roy is predeceased by a sister, Muriel Beatty.
There are no calling hours.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church, 130 Spit Brook Road, Nashua, NH, with Pastor Mick Meyers officiating.
Interment with military honors will be held on Monday, April 7, at 2 p.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Grace Lutheran Church, 130 Spit Brook Road, Nashua, NH 03062 or to the Hospice of Fisher Home, 1165 North Pleasant St., Amherst, MA 01002.
