GREENFIELD - Theodore Butynski, 94, of Colrain Road, died Wednesday (1-16-13) at Baystate Franklin Medical Center.
He was born in Willmington, DE, on Dec. 29, 1918, the son of Alex and Tekla (Trenczenski) Butynski. Ted attended local schools in Montague and was a machinist for the Dumont Corporation for many years.
He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving in World War II.
Ted was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church.
He enjoyed gardening and working at the Butynski Farm. He also enjoyed the company of family and friends. Ted loved reminiscing and telling stories.
Among his survivors, Ted leaves a son, Theodore E. Butynski of Greenfield, a sister, Mary Taylor of Orono, ME, two sisters-in-law, Anna Butynski of Greenfield and Cassie Butynski of New York, and several nieces and nephews.
Ted was predeceased by his wife, the former Cheslava ""Tess"" F. Shefler, who he married in April of 1948 in Yonkers, NY, and a son, Gary S. Butynski in 1990.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday ( 2-2-13) at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 133 Main St., with burial following in Holy Ghost Ukrainian Cemetery in Whately.
