ORANGE - William R. Howe, 69, of 180 Holtshire Road, died on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at the Veterans' Hospital in the Leeds section of Northampton.

Born in Orange on Oct. 12, 1943, he was a son of Robert V. and Hazel R. (Jenks) Howe and grew up in Orange, graduating from Ralph C. Mahar Regional School in Orange with the Class of 1962.
Following high school, William enlisted in the U.S. Army on Oct.15, 1962 and served in the Army Police while stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 30, 1965.
William's first wife was Susan (Deegan) and he later married Mary (Diemand).
A self employed accountant, William was working even while in the hospital.
An outdoors enthusiast, he enjoyed snowshoeing, riding his bike, kayaking and was also an avid reader.
William was a member of the Orange Gun Club.
Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Perry of Norfolk, Va., and a brother, David Howe of Stuart, Fla.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Robert Howe, and a sister, Kathryn Howe.
There are no calling hours or formal services.
Interment in South Cemetery, Orange, will be private.
