COLRAIN - Keith P. Gammell Sr., 72, of Greenfield Road, passed away on Saturday January 25, 2014 at the Buckley Health Care Center in Greenfield.
Keith was born in Colrain, MA on August 6, 1941 the son of Lafave and Leona (Dean) Gammell. He was a graduate of the former Arms Academy in Shelburne Falls, class of 1959.
Following graduation, Keith enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served four years  until his honorable discharge in 1963.
Keith was employed by the former Kendall Mills (now BBA Nonwovens) in Colrain for over 30 years. He was an operator  for the wastewater treatment plant. 
He was former caretaker and treasurer for the West Branch Cemetery in Colrain for many years.
Keith enjoyed camping with his family, country music and playing his guitar. An avid sports fan, he followed the Patriots, Red Sox and Bruins.
Survivors include  a son; Keith  "KG" Gammell Jr. and his wife Rachel of Charlemont, a daughter Lynette Von Haugg and her husband Mark of Charlemont; five grandchildren; Jason Payant, Keifer Gammell, Dylan Gammell, Stephen Von Haugg and Samantha Von Haugg, a brother Rodney Gammell and his wife Cindy of Greenfield, a sister Terry Gerry and her fiancé Rick Viellette of Shelburne Falls, and his companion Ree Mozeleski.
Keith was predeceased by his wife Linda (Smith) on November 19, 2004
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of the Buckley Health Care Center for their wonderful care and support shown to Keith during his stay there.
Calling hours will be Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 40 Church St., Shelburne Falls.
Burial will be private.
