GREENFIELD - Barbara J. Wood, 85, formerly of 54 High St., died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, in Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, after a brief illness.

She was born in Newport, R.I., Jan. 8,1929, the daughter of Herbert and Sarah (McLaughlin) Collins. She was educated in Greenfield schools and graduated from Greenfield High School.
Barbara was married to Bruce Wood, Nov. 15, 1947, in Holy Trinity Church, Greenfield. She lived in Greenfield, moving to South Deerfield in the early 60's.
Barbara worked in food service at the University of Mass., Amherst, for 27 years.
Her husband predeceased her on May 7,1981.
Barbara was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Greenfield, and as a hobby, she enjoyed bingo and card playing.
She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Baird of Hadley, and one son, Bruce of Pittsfield; five granddaughters; three great-granddaughters and one great-grandson.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Elaine Moggio in 2007, and two sisters, Isabelle Kempf and Bernice Sidney, formerly of Greenfield.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 6, at 10 a.m. from the Wrisley Funeral Home, 90 Sugarloaf St., South Deerfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 in Blessed Sacrament Church, Greenfield, celebrated by Fr. Timothy Campoli, pastor. Burial will be in the spring in Brookside Cemetery, South Deerfield.
A calling hour will be Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
