ORANGE - Nancy E. (Wirth) Fiske, 87, of 383 East River St., King James Court, died on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield.
The Guest Book is expired.
Born in Wendell on Feb. 17, 1926, she was a daughter of Walery and Henrietta (Jzeakefiski) Wirth and grew up in Wendell.
Nancy was married to Chester E. Fiske on Nov. 26, 1942 and he predeceased her. They had made their home on Lake Wyola in Shutesbury and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Nancy had been a resident of King James Court in Orange the past three years.
During World War II, Nancy worked at the Millers Falls Tool Co. for a number of years. Later on in life, she did private elder care for a couple in Leverett.
Nancy enjoyed playing cards and doing puzzles, especially playing canasta. She used to grow glads, which she would take to the hospital to cheer up the patients and staff. An excellent cook, she would host dinner parties in her home that left her guests overindulged in great food.
During the winter, Nancy found much enjoyment feeding the birds.
A devout Catholic, Nancy was a member of St. Mary's Church in Orange and when her mobility was limited the past year, she looked forward to receiving the Eucharist being brought to her home on Sundays.
A caring and unselfish person, Nancy will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
