William H. Bennett Jr. (1921 - 2014)

GREENFIELD - William H. Bennett, Jr., 92, of Log Plain Road, died Wednesday Feb. 19, 2014, at home.
He was born in Lowell, MA, on June 23, 1921, the son of William H. and Ethel (Barris) Bennett. Bill was a graduate of Tewksbury High School, Class of 1939.
Bill served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II.
He married Shirley E. Brown on Nov. 8, 1947 in Billerica, MA.
He was District 9 Fire Warden (Franklin County) for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for 37 years before retiring in 1986.
Bill was a weather and train enthusiast. He loved to travel and enjoyed gardening.
Besides his wife of 66 years, Shirley (Brown) Bennett, Bill leaves his children, Martha Tenney and her husband William of Northfield, Joyce Bennett and her husband Stephen Caminer of Denver, CO, Peter Bennett of Corona, CA, Douglas Bennett and his wife Cynthia of South Deerfield and Lynne Emanuelli of Leyden; a brother, Ralph Bennett, and a sister, Beverly Bennett, both of Tewksbury, MA ,and seven grandchildren: Ashley Bennett, Leslie Morales, Carly Bennett, Adrienne Caminer, Zachary Bennett, Anthony Emanuelli and Maria Emanuelli.
Bill was predeceased by his brother, George H. Bennett, in 2000 and son-in-law, Paul Emanuelli in 2010.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, Silver Street, Greenfield. Burial will follow at Green River Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Monday evening from 6 to 8 at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St., Greenfield.
