Myron C. Rokoszak, 70, of Old Forrest Road, Stoddard, New Hampshire, died unexpectedly February 21, 2014.
He was born in Lusaka, Rhodesia, January 6, 1944, the son of Walter and Agnes (Kowalski) Rokoszak.
He was educated in Deerfield schools and graduated from Frontier Regional High School in 1962. While at Frontier he excelled in football and track. He graduated from Amherst College in 1966. There he was outstanding in football, basketball and track. He was named All East Tackle 1964-1965. He was also recipient of the Howard Hill Mossman Award to the member of the senior class who has brought the greatest honor in athletics to Amherst College. He also received the Obed Slingerman Award.
After completing his master's degree at UMass, he coached football and track at Amherst College and Wesleyan University before returning to Frontier Regional High School to teach and coach sports. He served as Athletic Director at Frontier before his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, the former Amy Storey, of Stoddard, N.H. One son Mark Merrigan and his wife Jennie of Louisville, Kentucky, one daughter Tracy Merrigan and Mario Peixoto of California. One sister, Sophie Hsue and her husband Shaw Hsue of Sunderland. Two grandsons, Brent W. and Rex A. Merrigan and two nieces, Christiine Devincenzo and Maryann Manchester. His two beloved terriers, Cricket and Percival.
As a hobby he had the best lawn in South Deerfield, Mass. and Stoddard, N.H.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 25th, at 9:15 a.m. from the Wrisley Funeral Home, 90 Sugarloaf Street, South Deerfield, followed by A Liturgy of Christian Burial in Holy Family Church at 10 a.m.
Calling Hours will be held Monday evening from 6-8 p.m.
