Charlie was born on Aug. 22, 1950 to Thomas and Marjorie Olanyk of Sunderland. He was educated in the Frontier Regional School District and graduated from Greenfield Community College and North Adams State College.
Charlie held management positions at Consolidated Cigar Corporation for 10 years, one of which was spent in La Romana/Pedro Sanchez in the Dominican Republic, and Pepsi Brattleboro for 22 years. He was most proud of what he was able to accomplish during his 18 years as a Selectman for the town of Whately.
After his retirement, Charlie enjoyed bird watching, riding his motorcycle with his daughter in the summer sun and driving around the valley visiting with anyone and everyone.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carol; their daughter, Celene and her husband Gregory Boyce of Hatfield; Carol's parents, Ann and Bill Griffiths of Easthampton; his sisters, Nancy (Leo) Mooney of Orange and Joyce (Russ) of Montague; his brothers, Tom (Jean) of Deerfield, Ken (Sherry) of League City, Texas, Eugene (Diane) of South Deerfield.
At Charlie's request there will be no services.
Family and close friends will be invited to meet at a later date to celebrate Charlie's life.
