SHELBURNE FALLS - Eunice A. (Hillman) Terrill, 85, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014, due to declining health, at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester.
Born in Heath on Sept. 11, 1928, she was the daughter of John and Florence (Newton) Hillman. She had been a resident of Shelburne Falls for the last 52 years.
In September of 1947, Eunice was married to Merton Terrill.
She loved gardening, having lunch with her dear friend Liz, visiting and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch talking and visiting with her neighbors.
At one time, Eunice was a nurse's aide at the former Franklin County Public Hospital and later she was employed by the former Kendall Mills in Colrain until her retirement.
A survivor, Eunice was the oldest person in the United States to receive a Stem Cell Transplant because as she said, ""At 83, I still have a lot to do.""
Eunice is survived by her daughter, Jean and husband Larry Bruffee of Shelburne Falls; her five grandchildren: Zachary, Ross, Kiley and Laura Turner and Sara Terrill; great-grandsons, Jon and Michael Schuetze; step-grandsons, Corey and Evan Bruffee; daughter-in-law, Sue Atherton; two sisters, Bessie Sessions of Agawam, Flora Spencer and husband Roger of Florida; brother, Russell Hillman of Orange; brother-in-law, Gilbert Wilson; sister-in-law, Margaret Hillman, many nieces and nephews, among them, Marilyn Beaupre, who continually helped to care for her and was a constant strength and comfort throughout her illnesses.
Eunice was predeceased by her husband; her daughter, Sharon Rose; her sons, Gary and Jim; her son-in-law, Douglas Turner; her longtime loving companion, Les Johnson; siblings, Ellen Sessions, John Hillman, Smead Hillman, Bud Hillman and Hazel Wilson.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 19, at 2 p.m. at Trinity Church, Severance Street, Shelburne Falls. There will be a visiting hour at the church from 1 p.m. until the service begins at 2. Burial will be private.
