GREENFIELD - Leslie F. Worden, 90, of Vermont Street died Wednesday (6-4-14) at Baystate Franklin Medical Center.
He was born in Readsboro, VT, on July 24, 1923, the son of Leslie G. and Mary M. (Miles) Worden. In 1929, Leslie's family moved to Colrain where he attended local schools. He then moved to Greenfield in 1939 where he graduated from Greenfield High School.
He married his beloved wife, the former Gertrude J. Breitner, in 1959.
Leslie served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Leslie was a gear cutter at the Millers Falls Co. for 35 years before his retirement in 1984.
He was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Greenfield.
Leslie enjoyed travelling with his wife and playing cards.
Among his survivors, Leslie leaves a niece, Mary M. Gerweck of Monore, MI, and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Leslie was predeceased by his wife, Gertrude, on March 31, 2008.
Funeral services will be held Monday (6/9) at 9:15 a.m. from the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St., Greenfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Blessed Sacrament Church with the Rev. Timothy J. Campoli, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
