Mary Jo Humphrey, 71, of Dalton, died Monday, June 16, 2014.

Born in Greenfield on Dec. 10, 1942, the daughter of Howard A. and Wyonne Rogers Gadreault, she was a graduate of Greenfield High School and the K Harvey School of Cosmetology. She also took continuing classes in advanced hair coloring through Wella Balsam.
A cosmetologist for 48 years, Mrs. Humphrey was proprietor of Mary Jo's Beauty Shop in Dalton and MJ's in Pittsfield.
She was also co-owner of the Dalton Car Wash.
Mrs. Humphrey was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Dalton. She had been president of the Dalton Chamber of Commerce for more than 10 years. She had also been a member of the Dalton Benefit Association and helped out with the annual Gib Kittredge Auction.
She enjoyed sewing and playing golf and racquetball.
Mrs. Humphrey is survived by two sons, Peter R. Humphrey of Pittsfield and Paul J. Humphrey and his wife, Jeanie, of Bend, Ore.; a granddaughter, Sophie, and her former husband, Paul R. Humphrey.
Funeral services for Mary Jo Humphrey will be held Friday, June 20, at 11 a.m., at Grace Episcopal Church, 791 Main St., Dalton, with Rev. Daina Salnitis, rector, as celebrant. Burial will be at a later date in Ashuelot Cemetery in Dalton.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dery-Foley Funeral Home, 890 East Main St., Dalton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, Dalton Fire Dept., or Dalton Community Recreation Association, all in care of Dery-Foley Funeral Home.
