GREENFIELD - Doris M. (Robichaud) Powlovich, age 94, a lifelong resident of Greenfield, died Friday (7-11-14) at Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility.
She was born July 30, 1919 in Montague, the daughter of William and Anna (Rogerson) Robichaud. She attended Holy Trinity School and later graduated from Greenfield High School.
In her early years, she was employed by the Greenfield Recorder. She then worked for the Town of Greenfield and retired from there after working many years in the Town Office.
While working at The Recorder, Doris met her wonderful husband, Chester Powlovich of Greenfield, and they married in 1953. He predeceased her in 1976.
Doris will always be remembered for her warm smile and gracious nature. She had the ability to make friends with whomever she came to know. Throughout her life she enjoyed sewing, knitting and playing bingo although her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
She leaves behind her two sons: Thomas A. of Jericho, VT, and David C. and his wife Bonnie of Gill, MA; her grandchildren; Jamie of Brooklyn, NY, Kristi of Reston, VA, Chad of Jericho, VT, Jake of Melrose, MA, Jen Pratt and Michael Zettle, both of Turners Falls, and two great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Thomas and Vayda Pratt, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Doris was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Louise Powlovich; her brother, William Robichaud, and a sister, Marion Kelleher.
Services, all on Monday, will begin at 10 a.m. at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 87 Franklin St., Greenfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at Blessed Sacrament Church. Committal services will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the all the wonderful nursing staff and aides at Charlene Manor for the wonderful and loving care that they provided to their mother Doris over the last several years.
