GREENFIELD - Sophie (Symanski) King, 93, died Saturday 7/26/14 at the Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility in Greenfield. She was born in Whately on June 28, 1921, the daughter of Peter and Mary (Narewski) Symanski. She was a graduate of Deerfield High School Class of 1940.

Sophie was a homemaker.
She was an active member of Holy Trinity Church and a past member and president of the Holy Rosary Society. Sophie was a member of the Country Club of Greenfield and enjoyed golfing, bowling at the French King Bowling Alley. She enjoyed participating in her Wednesday afternoon tea group and playing cards every week with her relatives.
Among her survivors, Sophie leaves two sons, Frederick King of Amherst and Richard King of Lenox, three daughters, Beverly Bernabo of Avon, CT, Teresa D'Anna of Lenox, and Mary Ellen King Loos of Amherst, two brothers, Bill and Edd Symanski, both of Hatfield, a sister, Amelia King of East Hartford, CT, and nine grandchildren, Robin Bernabo, Nicole Palinkis, Teresa King, Susan DeLano, Katie D'Anna, Brock King, Emir "John" King, Adriene King and Christian King.
Sophie was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Lawrence King in 1990.
Funeral services will be held at 9:15am from the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield followed by at Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am at Holy Trinity Church with the Monsignor Ronald G. Yargeau officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday evening from 7-9pm at the funeral home.
