ERVING - Josephine (Sliwa) Czernich, 88, of Northfield Road died Thursday 8/21/14 at the Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield.

She was born in Northfield on February 19, 1926, the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Smolen) Sliwa. She attended local schools.
She was a supervisor at the Erving Paper Mill for many years. She also ran Wally's Dairy in Erving with her husband, Walter.
She enjoyed gardening and growing her Gladiolus. Josephine loved spending time with her family and friends.
Her husband, Walter Czernich, predeceased her on April 12, 2005.
Among her survivors, Josephine leaves a son, Walter and his wife Beverly of Erving, a grandson, Todd Czernich and his wife Carolyn of Northfield, a sister Joyce Makowski of South Deerfield, great-grandchildren Keith and Landon Warger of Northfield and Talon Shaw of Erving and five other great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday 8/26 at 11 a.m. at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls with the Rev. Charles J. DiMascola officiating.
Burial will follow at Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery in Turners Falls.
There will be no calling hours.
