Greenfield – Eileen Lavery Marguet, 94, passed peacefully into the arms of God with family present on Oct. 3, 2012.

Eileen was born in Saugerties, NY, on Aug. 9, 1918 to Hugh and Catherine Lavery. Eileen grew up in Brooklyn, NY, attending St. Brendan's High School and Brooklyn College.
Eileen lived a long and colorful life. Wearing many hats, she was a poet, author, artist and storyteller. Eileen was an officer's wife during World War II and enjoyed telling others of that interesting time. She raised her family in Massapequa Park, NY, summering in Halifax, VT. Eileen wrote many poems and magazine articles, published one book and authored two others. She is particularly known for her pet portraits.
Eileen is predeceased by her husband, William, and seven siblings.
She leaves behind four grown children: Susan Buczala of Southampton, Gregory Marguet of Halifax, VT, Mary Coonradt of Stony Brook, NY, and Jonathan Marguet and his wife Bobbi of Gill; 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She had many friends. Special notice goes to Terry Young of Massapequa Park, NY, and Mary Kennedy of Granby, MA.
Calling hours were held Friday at Walker Funeral Home, 14 High Street, Greenfield. Those wishing to attend the committal service should gather at the Walker Funeral Home on Saturday (10-6-12) at 10 a.m. for procession to Springdale Cemetery for the service at 11.
There will be a memorial service today (10-6-12) at 1 p.m. at the Greenfield Alliance Church, 385 Chapman St., Greenfield.
