HINSDALE, N.H. - William J. Mason Jr., 71, of Hinsdale, passed away quietly at home surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, June 11, 2013.
He was born in Greenfield, MA, on Jan. 12, 1942, the son of William and Marjorie (Vigneau) Mason. He attended Greenfield public schools.
He married Sandra (Jenkins) Bardwell on Sept. 1, 1990. They had 27 loving years together.
In his younger years, he was employed by the Greenfield Recorder and the Erving Paper Mill. In his later years he was a self employed contractor working in VT, NH and MA.
He loved buying, selling and trading cars. He had bought and sold well over 300 cars in the last 20 years. He also enjoyed spending the winters at his second home in Florida.
William is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra, of 27 years; a brother, Larry Conway of Amherst, MA; fours four sons, James and his wife Joy of Kansas City, MO, and his children Amber, Ashley and Amanda; Dan and his wife Jody Sieben of Lakeville, CT, and their son Makai; William and his wife Kara Dame of Greenfield, MA, and their children, Kathryn and Jacob; Richard and his partner Laura Letendre of Buckland, MA, and his children, Kylee and Zachary; three stepsons, Archie and his wife Donna Bardwell of Torrington, CT, and their children, Allison, Sara and Jessica; Bradford and his wife, Alison Bardwell of Colrain, MA, and their children Erika and Serena; David and his wife, Linthong Bardwell of Santa Rosa, CA, and their daughter Nina; a stepdaughter, Debra Monette of Kalkaska, MI, and her children, Michael, Mathew, Marisa, and a great- grandson, Andrew. He also leaves behind his beloved pugs, Dolly and Levi.
William was predeceased by his mother and father and a brother, Paul Conway.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to either Hospice or a Cancer Foundation of one's choice.
A burial service will take place at 2 p.m. on June 22 at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Hinsdale, NH.
