Harrison Smith Obituary
Born March 3, 1936 in Montclair, NJ, the son of Harrison P. and Gladis (Pritchard) Smith.
Harrison married Louise Ada Bousquette on May 7, 1960 and she went home to be with The Lord July 3, 2002. Harrison married Dorothy Selma Rempel on May 16, 2003 in Fishtail, MT.
He received his BA from Yale University, Masters of Education from Springfield, College, MA, from Moody Bible Institute and attended Talbot Theological Seminary.
Harrison was an executive for the YMCA for 20 years before he embarked on his second career in missions. He was a teacher and interim pastor at Bell Gardens Hispanic Church in Los Angeles, a Missionary for Camino Global (formerly CAM international), retiring in 2006. He was a member of First Evangelical Free Church of Rockford, IL, and Community Bible Church, Eckerman, MI.
Harrison came to know The Lord Jesus as his personal savior at age 20 at a Billy Graham crusade at Yale. He and his first wife, Louise, and then also with Dorothy led Bible studies, planted churches, discipled many young people, worked at many camps, and taught with Prairie Bible College overseas. Harrison had been to Cuba 11 times, preaching, baptizing and training pastors. He had been to Indonesia on two occasions to teach and train pastors. Relationships were the most important thing in Harrison's life and many, many people called him a close friend.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Lauren (Bill) Daniels of Idaho, Steven (Aurora) smith of Texas and Glenn (Sandy) Smith of Georgia; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Ada Bousquette, and his parents.
A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at the South Parish Cemetery, Winchester, NH, on South Parish Road.
