On August 20, 2010 at 11:20 am Peter Lamson Flint lost his battle with cancer just 3 days before his 83rd birthday.
His son Norman was at his side when he passed. He was born August 23, 1927 in Larchmont, NY. The Flint family were the original developers of Larchmont. Peter grew up on the water next to the Larchmont Yacht Club that was built by his great grandfather.
Peter moved to California in 1958 with his then wife Letitia Anne Flint. They were married in 1947 just after Peter returned home from the Marines.
Peter was involved with civil rights & human rights throughout his life. He marched with Dr. Martin Luther King across the bridge from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. His son Norman still remember photos of him being drug by his feet by white police officers bleeding from the head. This only made him more determined to accomplish his goal. To have equal rights for all.
Peter was a jeweler in Hollywood, CA before moving to Springville in 1971.
For a short time he was an art instructor at Porterville College in the mid to late 70's. He loved working with young people. Showing them the ability to express themselves through art.
We will miss our father, but there comes a time when we must all move on to our next journey. He has accomplished his work here and will continue do so.
Services for Peter will be at Springville Community Church Saturday August 28, 2010 at 12:30 pm. We love you dad.
