Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Brett W. Land US Army Specialist. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

I met Brett once when we were real little at a wrestling tournament. He was one of those people who you just had to admire. Man could that kid wrestle. I never had the pleasure to get to know him but to no surprise to all that do know him, his name stuck in my head. And then today I came across his name atop a tragic story. My heart sank and I swelled. Brett, may you rest in peace and may your wife and daughter be safe under your watch.

November 11, 2010

To Ken Land and Brett's Family, I am deeply saddened by the loss of your son. Our family is praying for you and yours. Our son's wrestled with Brett when they were younger. My sons Frankie and Michael Rodriguez were a few years older, but knew him and send their thoughts and prayers from San Diego where they live. My fondest rememberance was when my daughter and Brett squared off in a club match at PHS for fun. She had tagged along for years watching her brothers wrestle and wanted to try it. Well that one night she wrestled several young boys in the same weight class, and Brett had beaten some other boys and they met on the mat for the first time. He the ultimate competitor that he was and she in her two piece black and teal singlet, and lace socks with wrestling shoes to match approached each other and shook hands, Brett said to her, "I am going to kick your butt," needless to say she was intimidated and was pinned in less than a minute and her wrestling career was over. Ken, Brett was a great kid and I enjoyed watching him compete. His sacrifice to all in his service will never be forgotten. His spirit and memory will live on in our hearts. May God Bless you and your family.

RIP brother, i'll see u there

Although it has been awhile since we have seen the Land Family, we had the priveledge of knowing them and watching him play various sports. We were involved with the Flag Football association and Brett would do these back flips across the field. He was this little amazing athlete that did not have an off button. He had this heart of a champion. His father Kenny was one proud and amazing dad. Thank you Land family and THANK YOU Brett, for your dedication and service to our country! Our country & lil town of Porterville Thank You!

Dear Land family,

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. I truly feel your loss and pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Brett will never be forgotten.

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to SPC. Brett Land our Brother-in-Arms . To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Brett. And to Brett it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Brett, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,335 military Legionnaire Veterans of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Brett’s family and loved ones.

I am Deeply Saddened to learn of the loss of Spc Brett Land. The Price this Brave Young Soldier and his family have paid for this country and for freedom, Will Not Be Forgotten.

There will Never Be Enough Ways to Humbly Thank our Young Heroes for their Sacrifices, my brother among them, killed in action in Vietnam in 1967.

I am sincerely hoping that you can feel the thoughts of caring and support that surround you today and in the difficult days ahead, as this Grateful Country mourns with you, for Someone Very Precious to you, Who Is A True American Hero to all of us.

"Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee." ~ Psalm 55:22 ~

You are in my thoughts and prayers.
