Duane Bradford Cosart was born to W. F. and Gladys Cosart on March 4, 1927 in Exeter, California. He attended Exeter schools, graduating midterm his Senior year in order to join the Navy.

Duane served duty on the USS Slater, a destroyer escort, in the South Pacific until the ship was decommissioned after World War II. On return home, he enrolled at U. C. Davis, earning a Bachelor's degree in Viticulture. Duane received a second Bachelor in Business Administration from Fresno State.
Duane joined his father and brother Stanley in the agricultural business, raising grapes, oranges, and stone fruit. He belonged to the Sierra Citrus Packing House and served on the Board for a number of years.
Duane enjoyed duck hunting and belonged to a club in the Los Banos area. He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Betsy, four children: Ron (Gail), Bruce (Cheryl), Pam (Jon Young) and Marty (Jon Lalanne), and six grandchildren: Chris Cosart, Kevin Cosart, Nic Lalanne, Matt Lalanne, Lindsey Young, and Taylor Young.

A memorial service will be held Monday, April 8, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Myers Chapel, with interment to be private.
