With great sadness the family of Fred R Adams announces his passing on Monday April 21, 2014. Fred was born January 31, 1925 in Burbank, Ca. He was the only child of Elmer and Cornelia Adams of Sunland Ca. Fred spent his childhood in Sunland and graduated from Verdugo Hills High in Tujunga Ca in 1943. Soon thereafter he was drafted into the United States Air Force. He served two years but was never deployed overseas. He spent most of his active duty time as a Life Guard at a women's Air Force training facility in Texas. After his discharge at 21 years old he returned home and entered college. Fred graduated from Woodbury College in Burbank, Ca in 1948 with a degree in business administration. Fred's first job was working in the office at his grandfather's olive company – Alfred Adams Jr and Son's Sunland Olive Company in Sunland California. Fred worked with his father, uncles and aunts and other family members to build Sunland Olive Company into one of California's largest olive canneries. He continued to work in the family business as the business was moved to a new location in Terra Bella Ca. Fred moved to Lindsay Ca, in 1954 and bought his first 20 acre orange grove and home. In 1957, Fred left the family business and partnered up with his good friend Jim Valpey and formed Adivalp Reality on Putnam and Main Street in Porterville. In 1968, he purchased 55 acres of olives and oranges in Strathmore where he raised his family and extended family. He was one of the first certified organic farmers in Tulare County. Through the 80's, 90's and even into this century, Fred was farmer, olive packer, real estate broker while being a dad to many and friend to all. One of his last big operations was owning and operating Adams Olive and Smith Food's olive packing facility in Lindsay. Over the years, Fred was a member of the 20 -30 club, the Elks, and the Tulare County Sheriffs Mounted patrol.

During his life span, Fred was married three times and had children from all. In addition, he cared for step children and help support many extended children. He and first wife Joan were the parents of Bob Adams. His second wife Donna brought in step children Donna Lynn, Kurt, and Wayne Berry followed by their own two children David and Denise Adams. Fred was married a third time to Hope, and they welcomed Lisa Adams into their family. Fred spent his later years as a single man. Fred leave behind all his children, eleven grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
A graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Porterville on Tuesday April 29th at 2:00 pm
