Lester "Milton" Wieland Obituary
Lester "Milton" Wieland, our loving Dad, Papa, Brother and Uncle, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 13, 2013.
Milt was a very special man. He loved his family and dancing. Milt was a very shy man and soft spoken. When he spoke everyone listened, but everyone loved him. In his younger years he worked at Marquet, Noaire, Douglas, Northrup, Boeing and Lockheed in Burbank. He worked on the L-1011, Stealth, 727, 737, 747, 767 among other planes. After retiring he moved with his family to Porterville 35 years ago. He then worked at Hillier Aviation and The at Wind Machine (Vamco). Milt was born May 17, 1929 in Norman, Oklahoma to Ed and Marie Wieland. He was the 2nd of 10 children. He served in the army during the Korean War. He took food to the men who were fighting on the front lines. He was in the service from 1951-1953. Then on January 1, 1954 he married his soul mate, Jo Ladean Willingham. They had been married 55 years when his beloved Joy passed away in March, 2009. Milt and Joy had 3 children.
He is survived by his children, Cheri and Jim Jones of Sacramento, Glenn Wieland of Porterville and Gwen and Thomas Riley of Farmersville; grandchildren, Debbie and Jacob, Eddie and Shaunna, Nicki and Mark, Jason and Michelle and Sheila and Francisco; great grandchildren, Andrea, Jacob, Travis, Miranda Tynes, Kiahna, Malikye Plummer, Alexander Jones, Tawny, Sebastian Riley, Scarlette, Matthew and Richard Hernandez; great-great grandchildren, Nevaeh and Annabeth Riley; sisters Bettye Michael of Las Vegas, NV, Lou Carpenter of Porterville and Eddell Williams of Derby, KS; brothers, Roy and Richard Wieland of Visalia and Michael Wieland of Porterville, as well as many nieces and nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Marie Wieland; his beloved wife, Joy; granddaughters, Valerie and Danielle Riley; siblings, Jack and David Wieland and Judy Wall.
Daddy you will be missed greatly. We love you.
Visitation will be held at Myers Chapel on Monday, October 21, 2013 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at Woodville Cemetery on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 2:00 PM.
