Lonnie Gary Lindley, of Porterville CA, died peacefully in his home on Thursday, October 31, 2013. He was 73. He was born on August 4, 1940 in Antlers, Oklahoma. He attended Porterville High School, and enlisted into the United States Navy shortly after. In 1963 he married Sharron Layfield, and together they had 2 wonderful children, Sherry Lindley-Wood, Kristeena Lindley, and step daughter Roby Metzger. Later on Lonnie became a hard to get bachelor whose passion became collecting and selling Antique Collectible Guns and Weapons.

Lonnie worked as a psychiatric technician at the Porterville State Hospital and dedicated himself to making a family like relationship with his clients. He served as a member of the United States Navy where he was stationed on a Destroyer during the Vietnam War. He was awarded a Purple Heart.
A unique soul, Lonnie was known for his warm hearted generosity and since of humor. He was passionate about archeology, world history, genealogy, traveling around the world, attending Gun Shows and golfing with his family. His love of family was paramount. This strong-willed man will be greatly missed. Lonnie is survived by his daughters, two sisters, 10 grandchildren, and 4 great grandkids and numerous loving family members.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, reception following.
