Roy Lyn Queen passed away in Porterville on Monday, January 25, 2010 at the age of 70. Roy was born on March 22, 1939 in Milton, Oklahoma. His family moved to Porterville in 1945. He was raised in Springville where he worked cattle with his father. He graduated from Porterville High School in 1957, then joined the United States Navy where he served as navigator for the air antisubmarine squadron, VS-38 Red Griffins. After being released from active duty in 1962, Roy alternated between bartending & truck driving, working for Club 65, Don's Hillside, Kurz Trucking, Silver Arrow and Kings County Truck Lines. He attended Foothill Presbyterian Church in Porterville and was a Charter Vigilante for DSGG chapter of E Clampus Vitus. Roy enjoyed racing cars at Rocky Hill Speedway, telling stories, and riding his horses up to the backcountry with friends to watch the pine trees grow.

Roy is survived by his wife of 36 years, Susan Baird Queen, of Porterville; two daughters, Shawn Berthoud (& Mike) of Sonoma, CA and Lynette Queen (& Rudy Garza) of Porterville; son, Jason Queen of La Palma, CA; grandchildren, Kayla and Alec Berthoud of Sonoma, CA; sister, Wanda Mathews (& Jerry) of Seminole Dam, WY.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Pearl Queen, and his brother, Ray Queen.
A Memorial Service will be held at Noon, Saturday, January 30, at the Grand Avenue United Methodist Church, 776 W. Grand Avenue, Porterville. Burial service will be at 2:30 pm, Friday, January 29 at Vandalia Cemetery. Pastor Jim Rogers, Foothill Presbyterian, will officiate.
