Everett Lacey Cole "E.L" a resident of Porterville for many years, passed away here on Saturday, October 27, 2012. He was born in Wewoka, Oklahoma on November 10, 1943. He was 68 years old.|
Visitation will be held at Myers Chapel on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at 10:00 AM.
He attended Tipton Elementary School (1st-8th) and was a Tulare Union High School graduate class of 1958. Throughout his schooling he worked for the Forest Service, before enlisting in the Army, and never missed a day. He served in the Army for 14 years, being stationed in Germany after serving two tours in Cambodia and Vietnam. He was awarded a citation for his tour in Vietnam in 1970. After an honorable discharge, he went to work for various businesses until being hired at the Porterville Development Center as a cook. He retired after 22 years at the Porterville Development Center.
His hobbies included fishing up at Success Lake and watching television, especially sports. He loved to share his adventures during his service in the Army.
He is survived by his two sisters, Thelma Nasello (Charles) of San Jose, CA and Charlene Hatcher of Porterville, California. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Edna Cole and brother James (Jim) Cole of Downers Grove, Illinois.
A special thanks to the Dialysis Center for putting up with his goodness and kindness. There were days that he wasn't at his best behavior. Thanks Again.
