Donald C. Custer, 71, of Springfield, passed away on Dec. 15, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He was born April 6, 1941 in Washington C.H. to the late Walter and Doris Straley Custer. He is survived by his wife, Kay Allen Custer.
Mr. Custer was a truck driver for Coca Cola until his retirement in 2007. His children most remember him for their life on Robinson Road and their time with him in Stop-N-Go. He was a member of the Church of Christ, and baptized at the Fort Hill Christian Youth Camp. He was a graduate of ITT Technical Institute. Mr. Custer was a member of the Retail Clerk International, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters since 1992, the Little Big Horn Associates and the National Castor Association.
In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his sisters, Nancy Ritenour, and Coralee Custer.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons, Chris (Racquel) Custer of Makawao, Hawaii, Thomas (Nicole) Custer of Brighton, Michigan, and Rande Custer of Springfield, Ohio, three daughters; Amberly (Daniel) McCarty of Clarksville, Ohio, Andrea (Ronald) Stokes of Grove City, Ohio and Wendy (Phillip) Joyner of Harveysburg, Ohio, and twelve grandchildren. Mr. Custer is also survived by his sisters, Justina (Edward) Fisher , and Joretta (David) Edwards , Cinda Morgan all of Washington C.H. and Emma (Gil) White of Highland Beach, Florida.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 1 at the Morrow Funeral Home in Jeffersonville. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call at the Morrow Funeral home in Jeffersonville on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012 from 11 a.m until the time of the service.
