Paul Christian Brunner

 

Paul Christian Brunner, 85, of Washington Court House, Ohio went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 19, 2014, at 3:09 p.m. at his residence while surrounded by his loving family. He had been in failing health.

He was born June 30, 1928, in Columbus, Ohio to Foster Allen and Lillian Gladys Peters Brunner. He moved to Washington Court House in 1931 and was a 1948 graduate of Washington High School. Paul and Joretta lived with Joretta's parents in 1948-49 before moving into their new home on 416 Albin Avenue in 1949, where they lived until moving to their current residence in 1985.
Paul had many jobs and chores while growing up. He sold newspapers and magazines, carried in coal, spaded gardens, worked for Alkire's Bakery and Armbrust Concrete Products. He was a route salesman for Pennington Bread from 1952 to 1984 and then was an associate of Gusweiler GMC from 1984 until his retirement in 2010.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, had attended the Heritage Memorial Church of Christ in Christian Union and was a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Washington Court House.
Paul was preceded in death by his father in 1951; his mother in 1975; a brother, Foster Allen Brunner, Jr. in 1946, a sister, Frances Lowther in 1993, and a devoted son-in-law, Joseph Ries in 2001.
He is survived by his wife, the former Joretta Hope Armbrust whom he married September 4, 1948, in Newport, KY; four daughters and their spouses, Julia Brunner Ries D'Sidocky, and her husband, Richard, of Ravenna, Linda Brunner Wells and her husband, Gene, of Mt. Gilead, Susan Brunner Mitchell and her husband, Jon, of Washington Court House and Nancy Brunner of Reynoldsburg; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey (Ronda) Ries, Dennis (Tawny) Mitchell, Michael (Jessica) Mitchell, Brian (Lindsay) Mitchell, Cassandra Mitchell, Dr. Hamilton (Tashana) Wells, Bethany (Michael) Wells Pratt and Elizabeth Wells and ten great grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday, January 23, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Washington Court House with the Rev. Joe Current, pastor at the church, and the Rev. Joe Duvall, former pastor at the Heritage Memorial Church of Christ in Christian Union, officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
