PHILLIP G. ALLEN — The funeral for Phillip G. Allen, 64, of Washington Court House was held Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with the Rev. Tom Knauff, pastor at the Jeffersonville United Methodist Church, officiating. Several memorial tributes were offered by family members and friends.
Pallbearers for the burial in Washington Cemetery were Craig, Todd and Brian Allen, Nathan Thornton, Mell Wickensimer and Gary Davis.
Complete military honors were bestowed by the Veterans of Fayette County Honor Guard. The flag, which draped the casket of the Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, was folded by Paul Sands and Charles "Buck" Harris and was presented to Phil's wife, Deborah Orr Allen. Members of the honor guard were Ed Wheaton, Tom Slager, David Frederick, Cliff Puckett, Sheldon Litton, Elaine Stalsworth and Charles "Buck" Harris with Jack Smallwood serving as commander. Stephen Zastrow and Larry Bishop sounded taps.
Phil, a former City of Washington Court House sewage treatment plant employee, died Friday, March 28, 2014, at Mount Carmel West in Columbus where he had been a patient since March 14
