Patricia Maddux "Patti" Briggs, 88, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Saturday, January 4, 2014, at 8:20 a.m. at Mount Carmel West in Columbus where she had been a patient since Christmas evening.

Patti was born February 3, 1925 in Washington Court House, Ohio to Jess H. and Hazel Pommert Maddux. She was 1943 graduate of Washington High School and a 1947 graduate of Miami University with a degree in home economics. She was a lifelong resident of this community.
Before her retirement she was a home economist with the Dayton Power and Light Company.
Patti was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church; the Rebecca Circle of the United Methodist Women and was kitchen chair for the United Methodist Women. She was a charter member of Altrusa International of Washington Court House; a member and long-time director of the Fayette County Historical Society; a member of the Fayette County Home Economists Club and the Twenty Club. She was an avid bridge player; had been a social member of the Washington Country Club; had formerly served on the Fayette County Republican Central Committee and, for 20 years, was an advisor for the Helpful Homemakers 4-H Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Frederick Briggs on July 3, 1994, and by her parents.
Patti is survived by a daughter, Robin Briggs Dolphin of Washington Court House; two grandchildren, Courtney Siegel and her husband, Ryan, of Hilliard and Kyle Dolphin and his wife, Kate, of Washington Court House and two great grandchildren, Nora Grace Siegel and Tess Marie Dolphin.
The funeral will be Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at 6 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mick Whistler, pastor at the church, and Mell Wickensimer, director of visitation at the church, officiating. A private burial will be Thursday in Washington Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church Wednesday from 3 p.m. until time of the service. A time of food and fellowship will follow the service in the fellowship hall at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Historical Society, 517 Columbus Avenue; the Grace United Methodist Church or the United Methodist Women of the Grace United Methodist Church, 301 East Market Street, Washington Court House, Ohio 43160.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.
