DR. ROBERT PAUL HARRIS — The funeral for Dr. Robert Paul Harris, 91, of Washington Court House was held Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church with Mell Wickensimer, director of visitation at the church, officiating. Linda Hamilton was the organist. Dr. Harris' son-in-law, Michael Stanforth, and longtime friend, Dr. Robert U. Anderson, each gave memorial tributes.
Pallbearers for the burial in Grandview Cemetery in Chillicothe were Joshua and Jeremy Harris, Michael and Trent Stanforth, Brian Cook and Richard Chaney.
Complete military honors were bestowed by the Veterans of Fayette County Honor Guard. The flag, which draped the casket of the World War II Army
veteran, was folded by Paul Sands and John Mason and was presented to Dr. Harris' son, Robert M. (Rob) Harris. Members of the honor guard were John McCullough, Cliff Puckett, David Frederick, Sheldon Litton, Bob Lowe, Jack Smallwood and Tom Slager with Bill Foody serving as commander. Stephen Zastrow sounded taps.
Dr. Harris, a retired optometrist and widower of Elaine McKenzie Harris, died Friday, May 2, 2014, at the Westminster-Thurber Community in Columbus where he had been residing the past year.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.
