Doris Naomi Klever, age 91, of Divelbiss Road, Fredericktown, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 7, 1923 in Fayette County to the late Homer and Ella (Beatty) Speakman. Doris resided in Fayette County before renting a farm in Ashland, Ohio in 1959. Six months after purchasing the family farm in 1970 in Fredericktown, Ohio, Doris suffered the loss of her husband, Robert Klever. Farming became a way of life for Doris and the family and she would not have wanted it any other way.
She was a previous member of the Fayette County Center for Aging, Fayette County Historical Society and served as an advisor for the Marion Marvels 4H group. Doris belongs to the North Liberty Garden Club and attended the First Baptist Church of Fredericktown. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling with family and friends. Doris was hard working and kind hearted and will be missed by all who knew her.
Doris is survived by her children, James Klever of Fredericktown, Rebecca Russell of Loudonville and William (Brenda) Klever of Newark, son-in-law, Jeff (Beth) Mellott of Butler, Ohio and daughter-in-law, Mary Catherine Klever of Fredericktown, nineteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and a sister, Donna Carter of Washington Court House.
Besides her husband, Robert Klever, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard Klever, a daughter, Roseanne Mellott, three brothers, Roy Speakman, Virgil Speakman and Willard "Shorty" Speakman, three sisters, Ruth Smith, Helen Carter and Martha Gilliam.
Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 E. College Street, Fredericktown, Ohio 43019 where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. Evangelist Troy Northrop will be officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. in the Bloomingburg Cemetery in Fayette County.
Memorial contributions in Doris's name may be made to Hospice of Knox County.
