Roberto Purdin

Roberta Jean (May) Purdin of Knightsdale, N.C., formerly of Union City, IN., and Greenfield, OH., passed away Saturday, November 9, 2013 after battling Alzheimer's that progressed to vascular dementia. She was 83. 

 

Roberta loved family, friends, church, animals, God, music, and singing. She had a beautiful, soprano, singing voice and had an opportunity to be a professional singer, but, chose to raise a family instead. She was a member of church choirs and sang like an angel on earth who gave anyone listening goose-bumps. 

 

Roberta is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Glen H. Purdin; 3 of her 4 children: Robert L. Purdin "Bobby" (Knightsdale, N.C.), Glenna J. (Purdin) Reed (Washington C.H., OH.), and Coramy K. (Purdin) Michniewicz and her husband, Michael Michniewicz "Mike" whom she resided with in Knightsdale, N.C. She is also survived by her brother, Ralph May (Tina); a brother-in-law, Delbert Purdin; her oldest grandchild who she helped raise, Chandra R. (Shiltz) Schwartz along with 12 other grandchildren and several great-grandchildren who all referred to her as "Mimi"; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and she will be missed by many friends. 

 

She was preceded in death and now reunited with her parents, Robert and Cora May; her sister, Joanne (May); 2 brothers, Earl and Donald May ; her son, Anthony J. Purdin "Tony"; her grandson, Tracy Purdin; a son-in-law, Ronald L. Shiltz "Ronnie"; a grandson-in-law, Freddie Schwartz, Jr. "Fred"; and many other family members and friends. 

 

Roberta's ashes and final resting place will be buried where she was born in Greenfield, OH. There will be a memorial service and celebration of Roberta's life sometime in the Spring for family and friends to pay their respects and share their memories.
