1913 - 2007 Obituary Condolences
Frederick Davis Ashbaugh, born May 17, 1913, in Paso Robles, California, to parents Charles Durant Ashbaugh and Ina May Bush Ashbaugh.

He was preceded in death by his eight brothers and sisters: Etta Phoebe, Mildred, Ina Mae, Thelma Kathleen, Charles Virgil, Alta Anita, Albert Allen and George Harold. He is survived by his daughter Gail her husband Glenn, their three sons Mike James, Bruce James and Fredrick James, the families of his brothers and sisters in Washington, Oregon, California and Montana.

Fred went to high school in Hollister, California, while living with his sister Alta Anita and her husband Zene Pivetti and their son Charles. He enlisted in the Navy during the second World War and served as a Gunner's Mate on a destroyer where he was invalided out of service, receiving the Purple Heart. Following the war he traveled to Europe attending the Language Institute in St. Gallen, Switzerland, prepatory to enrolling at the Univ. of Vienna in Austria on the GI Bill. He received a degree in International Law at the College of London in England.

After receiving his degree, he went into Government Service attached to the U.S. Air Force in Germany as a civilian; this was followed by a series of postings around the world, mainly in North Africa, both Libya and Morocco. His last assignments were in Alaska and then in Seattle, WA where he retired before moving to Red Bluff, CA in 1985.

A memorial service will be held at the Chapel of the Flowers at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 2nd.
