JEAN M SHEARMAN Jean M Shearman, who joyously celebrated her 90th birthday last May, passed away at home February 19th joining the host of heavenly saints. Jean was born in Red Bluff and lived her entire life here. She was the last child born to Josephine and Lee Mohler. Jean was pre-deceased by all of her siblings Ray, Blanche, Fred, Frances, John, Alice, Pearl, Bernice, Frank and Robert. Jean graduated from Red Bluff Union High School and immediately began a career that would span 18 years in the high school office. She met and married her husband, Ora, after a short courtship. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary just before Ora's passing in 2002. Jean joined the Methodist Church as a young woman and participated in conference youth caravans and camps. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where her faith in God undergirded her life through these many years. Jean & Ora had one daughter, Gayle of Novato, CA. Many of their activities - PTA, Campfire Girls, Band Boosters and being chaperones on numerous band trips and at church youth events - reflected their commitment and support of their daughter. Jean is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families, and a granddaughter, Magi Creelman of Columbus, OH. Jean enjoyed working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, reading, trips to the coast and visits with family. She also crocheted, providing many lap robes to local nursing homes. Gayle especially wants to thank Jean's caregivers, Joan and Diane; Dr.Wickenheiser and St Elizabeth Hospice who enabled mom to stay at home with her beloved view of Mt. Shasta. Gayle also expresses deep appreciation to her cousins, especially Jan Cole; mom's neighbors over the years; her pastors and friends at her church - who shared Sunday lunches, made frequent visits or calls and brought special treats to buoy Jean's spirits. Jean was buried privately, in accord with her wishes, February 22nd. A service of celebration for Jean's life will be held Friday, March 8th at 2pm at the Red Bluff First United Methodist Church. Donations to honor Jean's memory may be sent to the Red Bluff First United Methodist Church, 525 David Ave, Red Bluff, California 96080. I lift up my eyes to the hills-from where will my help come? My help comes from the LORD,who made heaven and earth. ~ Psalm 121
