1917 - 2007 Obituary Condolences
Jack Brown, 89, of Redding, passed away on May 8, 2007 after a lengthy illness.

Born on May 30, 1917 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Mr. Brown and his family sought their future on the West Coast and moved to Tehama County, California when Jack was a young boy. Jack graduated from Red Bluff Union High School in June of 1936. A loyal patriot, he enlisted with the Army Air Corp after Pearl Harbor and served as a Gunnery Instructor in Europe. After VE Day, he returned to the United States on the Queen Mary, when it was utilized as a troop ship during the war.

Upon returning to Red Bluff, Jack worked at Lyon & Garrett Hardware in where he met Doris Stenberg. Doris and Jack were married in 1947 and have spent 59 happy years together. In 2003, Jack and Doris moved to Redding to be closer to family.

In 1953 Jack went to work as a plumber at Allen & Allen where he finished his career in 1980. His commitment to family and community were also evidenced by his service to Bethel Church in Red Bluff where he was a member for 45 years and a member of the Church Board for several of them as well as his leadership on the Wheeler Logging Bowling team. An avid outdoorsman and loving family man, Jack's gentle smile and kind spirit will be missed by his family and friends.

Jack is survived by his wife Doris, his daughter Karen Henderson of Redding, 3 grandchildren, Kari Peterson, Chris Henderson and Cori Yeager, all of Redding and 8 great-grandchildren, also of Redding.

Services for Jack Brown will be held on the 90th anniversary of his birth, May 30th at 12:00 noon at the Veterans' Cemetery in Igo followed by a memorial service at 2:00pm at Faith Assembly Church at 8595 Airport Road in Redding, 96002 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack Brown's name to the Faith Assembly Church Building Fund.
