Lonnberg, Philip Raymond - Redding
Philip Raymond Lonnberg Redding, CA Oct. 13, 1940 - July 21, 2015 On July 21st, 2015 our father, Phillip Raymond Lonnberg reached out to hold his wife's hand one final time before passing gently from this world. Born October 13th, 1940 in Redding, CA, to parents John and Florence Lonnberg, both deceased. His father helped build Shasta Dam and his grandfather was the assayor of Kennett. He was the oldest of four. Phil lived his entire life here in Redding. After high school he enlisted in the military and served three years in Germany, where he drove tanks. Shortly after returning, he met the love of his life, Gail Frase. Together they raised three girls, Cindy Shepherd, Wendy Lonnberg and Susan Garrett all of whom reside in Redding. They have been happily married for over 51 years. He was an employee for CalTrans for 38 years until he retired in 2001. He was also a professional land surveyor. He was a dedicated employee and took great pride in his work. Although nervous to retire, he quickly grew to love it. He got to enjoy many of the best years of his life. He loved golfing, playing bridge, fishing and taking care of their beloved Churn Creek bottom farm until he was no longer able. Dad could fix or build practically anything. He was a gentle and loving husband, father, grand-father and great grandfather. Dear Dad, we will always love and miss you, losing you has been hard but we are happy your finally free. Thank you for always being there. Until we meet again... As he requested no services will be held.
