Douglas Mussmann, 43 of Redding, died unexpectedly on May 9, 2013. Doug was born on August 15, 1969 to Robert and Ethel Mussmann in San Jose, CA. The family later moved to Merced, CA then to Cottonwood, CA in 1986. Doug attended Shasta High School during his senior year and graduated in 1987. Doug was employed with Foothill Distributing for 12 years.
Doug enjoyed mountain biking, building cars and spending time with his family. Doug loved cooking for others and was always up for a barbecue with family and friends. There was a thread of humor woven into every stitch of his life. He was kindhearted and willing to share his own brand of wisdom with anyone who asked. As a born peacemaker he had the ability to engage those around him with positive energy or wicked humor.
He is survived by his wife Michelle; sons, Axel and Jacob; daughter, Cecily all of Redding; parents, Robert and Ethel Mussmann of Cottonwood; mother and father-in-law, Andrea and Richard Wemette of Anderson; grandmother, Ethel Tallman of Grass Valley; brother, Curtis Mussmann of Orangevale; sister, Melissa McKenna of Cottonwood; sister, Cassandra Severns of Dairyville; sister, Jamee Dawson of Anderson; brother, Brady Mussmann of Cottonwood; brother, William Mussmann of Cottonwood; sister, Kaitlyn Mussmann of Cottonwood; sister, Sayla Mussmann of Cottonwood; brother, Caleb Mussmann of Cottonwood; brother-in-law, Richard Wemette and fiancee Jeanette Reinholz of Chico; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and devoted friends.
A memorial service for Doug Mussmann will be held on Saturday, May 18 at 12:00 pm at Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel in Palo Cedro. Memorial services will be followed by a Celebration of Life with good food and good Doug stories in the parking lot.
