William H. Applegate, Sr.

January 3, 1921 - September 19, 2013

Shingletown - William Applegate Sr. passed away sometime in the early morning hours of September 19, 2013.
He was 92 years old, a retired Civil Engineer and private pilot.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Pat Applegate.

In March 1943 he was called to active duty in the US Army, graduating from Officer Candidate School, at Fort Benning, GA as a Commissioned 1st Lt. Infantry. Traveling to England, France and Germany.
He fought in 3 battles and campaignes receiving Combat Awards; 2 Silver Stars, a Oak Leaf Cluster (Silver Star), the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star Medal for his dedication of service.

Funeral service will be held at 11 am Monday September 30th at Allen & Dahl Chapel 910 Deschutes Rd., Palo Cedro.
12:30 Burial Honor Ceremony (MIAP) with motorcycle escort to Northern California Veterans Cemetery followed by a reception at the American Legion Hall in Redding.
