Gail, Jim Matthews with Aunt Nadean Kootz
Gail Matthews

I don't remember when we meet Aunt Nadean (long time ago). I been working on my husband Jim's family tree for the DeMartin/Gardner side and found out that Aunt Nadean was married to Andrew DeMartin (Josephine DeMartin Matthews brother) and found out she was alive and kicking still and we made a special trip to meet her and Ellamay DeMartin. Since then Jim found more cousins DeMartin's and the Gardner's and other long lost family. Over the years we would visit once a year and gather more family history from her. Love her garden and flowers. So Aunt Nadean we will miss you. May you finally RIP and now happy your with Andrew DeMartin. Gail
We do have one of her quilts and will treasure it forever.

I will remember Nadean for her ever producing garden. Also her love for quilting and her love for her family. I was proud to help her out with the tilling of her garden as well as helping her plant various items. I hope her garden in the sky will produce as much as they did here. I learned a great deal from her and I appreciated all things that she taught me. Even though we shared the same birthday, she was more stubborn than me (ha,ha)! Rest well!

Mrs Kootz, as we knew her, was from Happy Valley. She had a wonderful garden and worked in it everyday. We love you Mrs. Kootz.
