Michael Donohue Obituary

1959 - 2010
Michael Frederick Donohue, 51, passed away on November 8, 2010 at his Redding home. Born on September 19, 1959 in Jamestown, New York to William and Mary Donohue. The family moved to Redding in the summer of 1962. Mickey lived in many places: Sacramento, Hawaii and Crescent City, but he always returned to Redding. Mic had a love of hang gliding, sailing and motorcycles, the latter which he made his profession as the owner and ace-mechanic of a Redding motorcycle shop with his nephew and buddy Ben, whom he affectionately called "Ben-Jamin". He had a love of music and was a self-taught banjo player. Mic could always be found with his faithful dog Zoomer at his side.
Mike is survived by his son Dillon, his brother Bill of Richmond, CA, sisters Patricia Chiementi of Half Moon Bay, CA, Kathy (Butch) Ascherman and Teresa (Wayne) Giles of Redding, CA. He also leaves behind nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles and many friends, some life long.
Services will be held Friday, November 26, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Allen & Dahl Funeral Home, 9110 Deschutes Rd., Palo Cedro, CA.

It´s been almost 14 years since we lost our friend, Mick, and I rarely see a motorcycle that his memory does not come into my mind. Rest in peace, Mick. You deserve to be remembered with love and a smile

To my little brother Mickey (Fred-Long), From the day you were born, to the move to California, the long bike rides into the woods and playing in the treehouse. The memories go on and on. I miss you so. Enjoy the greatest sail ride ever as you ride the waves of Heaven. I hope the waves are big and you get a thrill with each one. I love you so, Your Middle Sister, Cappy-Short

Mickey, You are a great uncle and an even better friend. you taught me so much over the years, You always inspired me to step outside and have fun, to test the boundaries and live life. I cherish every motorcycle ride we went on, from the first rides as an infant to the 170 mph high speed runs just to say we did it...I love every note we played together on the banjo and guitar, and the encouragement that went along with it. I miss you so much bud. Continuare a vela!

Mic Starr, I will miss your drive byes at work in your little red car with the horn tooting and Zoomer barking. You singing Love Girl to the tune of Love Boat that you would sing to me. Your excitement of learning more music on your banjo that you would play for me on the phone. And your beautiful newscaster hair that I was always envious of. I will miss you little brother. Love, Love, T Star

The last time I saw Mic we played a little guitar and banjo music. It made him very happy. For a beginner, he was pretty damn good on the banjo. I'm gonna miss our weekly phone talks, where we'd talk about politics, finance and the future. Mic, I'm really gonna miss you a lot, brother! I hope you and Zoom are sailing calm waters now.
