Bernelle K. Bolton

1943 - 2014

On April 3, 2014 Bernelle Kaye Bolton (Joki) passed away due to a sudden brain hemorrhage after being diagnosed with Leukemia.

Bernelle was a wife, mother, sister, and a most proud grandmother.
She was a sweet and beautiful soul who will be forever missed.

Bernelle was born on July 2, 1943 in Red Lodge, Montana to Arlene and Arthur Joki who preceded her in death.

Bernelle was married to Paul Bolton in 1964. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 22nd of this year. Bernelle worked as a bookkeeper and junior accountant during her career until she retired. In her retirement, Bernelle enjoyed involvement in several social groups as well as her passion for traveling. She was an avid reader of mystery novels, loved working crossword puzzles, going to movies, playing games with friends, going to the gym with her sister, and enjoying a good glass of wine.

Bernelle had a quiet, but dynamic personality. True to her Finnish decent, Bernelle had the "SISU" spirit, which means to persevere with determination. She had an engaging smile, a sweet disposition, a great sense of humor…if you knew her, you loved her. She was always willing to help her family and friends and loved to be involved in activities. Her spirit left an indelible imprint on the lives she touched and will always be a guiding force for her family. She was a one of a kind person who will be dearly missed. Her Leukemia diagnosis was sudden and her death from the brain hemorrhage was shocking. It has left all who loved her stunned, saddened, and lost without her. However, Bernelle would not have wanted her loved ones to sit in suffering, but to celebrate life and move forward with new adventures in her honor.

Bernelle is survived by her husband of 49 years, Paul of Redding; her daughter Angela Bolton of Butte, Montana; her daughter Tami Bolton of Redding; her beloved grandson, Cooper Reed; family member, Eric Reed; sister and best friend Jerri Ann Jones and her husband Alan Jones of Redding; and all of her very special nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, in-laws, and family members and friends throughout California, Montana, and other states and countries.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Redding Elks Lodge on April 18, 2014 at 11:00 am with a luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, in memory of Bernelle Bolton; 7750 College Town Drive Suite 210 Sacramento, CA 95826.
